Generations Meet in Midwifery Profession Panel” was held at Bartın University.
Generations Meet in Midwifery Profession Panel” organized by Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences within the scope of April 21-28 National Midwives Week activities was held on April 22, 2025. The event attracted great interest with the participation of academic staff, students, and health professionals at the Ağdacı Campus Conference Hall.
The association delivered the program's opening speech. Associate Prof. Dr. Hacer Yalnız Dilcen, Head of the Department of Midwifery at Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences. Dilcen evaluated the historical development of the midwifery profession, its critical role in the health system, and its vision for the future. At the opening ceremony, Faculty of Health Sciences Vice Dean Assistant Professor Dr. Sibel Altıntaş also addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of the event.
In the later part of the program, Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery faculty member, Assistant Professor Dr. Yeliz Çakır Koçak, Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery, delivered a speech titled “ICM Theme: Midwives are Critical in Every Crisis”. In the presentation, the effectiveness of midwives in health crises on an international scale, their contribution to multidisciplinary working processes, and their leadership roles were discussed in detail.
Within the panel's scope, within the framework of the theme “Generations Meet in the Midwifery Profession”, experienced midwives serving in the field and student midwives who are new to the profession came together. Midwife Beyza Ünüvar from Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, Midwife Yasemin Deniz Öztekin from Bartın Community Health Center, Midwife Ebru Çakır from Bartın Maternity and Child Diseases Hospital, Midwife Nahide Yazıcı from Private Aktıp Hospital, and Bartın University students Midwife Sıla Kayan shared their perspectives on the profession.
At the program's closing, Bartın University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik emphasized the place and importance of the midwifery profession in the health system and thanked the academic and administrative staff who contributed to the organization.
The panel ended in an interactive environment where the participants actively participated in the question-and-answer session. The event was evaluated as a valuable meeting to raise awareness of the midwifery profession and transfer professional experiences between generations.
