The Midwifery Department 2024–2025 Academic Year Spring Semester-End Evaluation Meeting Was Held.
The Department of Midwifery at Bartın University, Faculty of Health Sciences, held an end-of-semester evaluation meeting marking the conclusion of the 2024–2025 academic year’s spring term. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hacer Yalnız Dilcen, with the participation of academic staff members and students from all year levels of the midwifery program.
During the meeting, a comprehensive evaluation of both theoretical courses and practical training processes throughout the semester was conducted. Students shared their experiences in course content and clinical practice areas, along with the challenges they encountered, providing detailed feedback.
Among the topics brought forward based on student input were concerns regarding the insufficient visibility of students on the department’s social media platforms, particularly first-year students’ desire to be more involved in promotional content. Suggestions for diversifying social and extracurricular activities were also highlighted. In addition, students raised various issues related to campus life and expressed their expectations for organizing technical and professional field trips.
In the session focused on clinical practice, students frequently emphasized difficulties in communication within practice settings, inadequacies in knowledge transfer, and deficiencies in the physical infrastructure of clinical environments. Requests for increased opportunities in case observation and clinical intervention were articulated, accompanied by suggestions aimed at enhancing the quality of practical training.
Evaluations regarding the educational infrastructure also formed part of the meeting agenda. Students pointed out issues concerning the up-to-dateness of library resources, the adequacy of laboratory equipment, and difficulties in accessing instructional materials. Their expectations for the improvement of both physical and digital learning resources were duly noted by the department administration.
In the closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hacer Yalnız Dilcen emphasized the significance of students’ active engagement in academic processes, noting its critical role in improving educational quality and ensuring student satisfaction. Furthermore, she underlined that the feedback and suggestions shared during the meeting would serve as valuable input for the department’s future planning and development.
