World Day of Persons with Disabilities Event
World Day of Persons with Disabilities Event
International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an international awareness day celebrated by the United Nations on 3 December since 1992. Different activities are held in the world and in our country to raise awareness, to draw attention to the problems of the disabled and to better understand them. Within the scope of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the “World Disabled Day” event was held at the Sports Hall of the Faculty of Sports Sciences on 13 December 2022 in cooperation with the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Disabled Student Unit Coordinator. The event, which was set out with the slogan "I Do My Health Checks, I Have Fun With Sports", aimed to reduce the health check anxiety of children with disabilities. For this purpose, the height, weight, blood pressure and anthropometric measurements of the students participating in the special education schools, special education application centers and rehabilitation centers operating in our city and the disabled students continuing their education at our university were made. Afterwards, a fun time was spent by performing sports activities accompanied by music with the trainers of special athletes.
We would like to thank our disabled children and their families who showed interest in and participated in our event, their teachers accompanying the children, the instructors and students who took part in the event.
